Why Did You Decide to Join Chestnut Park?

 

I decided to join CP because of their great reputation and outreach being affiliated with Christie’s. Prior to joining CP I was with a smaller boutique brokerage that simply did not have the brand recognition and horsepower that comes with being at CP.

 

What Are The Top Three Things That You Like Most About Chestnut Park?

Great Brand Recognition, Fun and Supportive Corporate Culture/Staff, and amazing support system (legal/marketing/office managers & peers etc).

 

What Sets You Apart As A Realtor?

What sets me apart as a realtor is my dedication and commitment to giving 100% effort and giving my time to each transaction. I don’t believe that anyone should take on a project or listing or transaction unless they can give 100% of what they can offer. If I can’t commit, I will simply refer to somebody at our office who can! Definite Goals/Vision - vague desires and goals lead to vague outcomes. It is this sense of direction that gives me the motivation to stick to my clients goals and achieve their dreams.

 

Something Surprising Or Unique About Yourself?

I possess a realistic optimism. Realistic because I take action and optimistic because no matter what the result may be, I believe that success is inevitable. My positive attitude allows me to persevere and be resilient when things don’t go as planned.

 

Which Social Media Platform Are You Most Active On?

I would say i’m most active on Instagram. I enjoy checking out recent posts on real estate locally, nationally, and all over the world. It’s an easy platform to navigate, and I’m a visual person so seeing photo’s really keeps me interested. There are many exciting pages to check out that inspire ideas - from luxury home builders to salespeople, contractors, home builders, reclaimed wood guys, landscapers, there is something for everyone.

Why Did You Decide to Join Chestnut Park? I like to think I had a little inside intelligence about the way real estate companies operate. I grew up in the business. My father was broker/owner of a multi-office franchise for nearly 50 years and I learned a great deal at the dinner table about buying and selling houses and also about company dynamics. There is no question it’s a top down culture. The managing brokers set the tone. All research told me that this was well done.   What Are The Top Three Things That You Like Most About Chestnut Park? Let’s just say it’s a trinity of quality.   What Sets You Apart As A Realtor? I think outside my indefatigable work ethic and accelerating expertise my background has made me uniquely qualified to synthesize diverse bits information.  Houses are not just made up of hard data about foundations, materials, layout, resale etc. They are also overflowing with soft variables that every buyer or seller must connect for their satisfaction. A realtor’s skill with complexity is important. I’ve studied complexity with the Santa Fe Institute of Complexity.   Something Surprising Or Unique About Yourself? I’ve sold a number of art properties to corporations and created some partnerships between others, wrote a few plays, worked with a renowned impresario, rode the Trans-Siberian Railway the day after the rouble crashed in the 90’s and talked with families in exodus. I came face-to-face with a pit viper in Central America and antiquities bandits in Turkey.  I wrote a book for a think tank on the topic of “innovation”. Why Did You Decide to Join Chestnut Park?

I have always liked the Chestnut Park and Christie's brands and I had done several deals with Chestnut Park.  The agents and management were always good to deal with. It has a very corporate environment which works for me. Most important, my clients like the brand and the reputation, and they were more than comfortable with the decision. 

 

What Are The Top Three Things That You Like Most About Chestnut Park? 

First, I want to say it all about the client experience for me. Whatever makes it easier for me to do a good job for them is what I like.

It is hard to know the top three things, but certainly the Chestnut Park brand in Southern and Eastern Ontario, and international links through Christie's is very helpful right now.  I am getting more and more international referral business and people are comfortable knowing there are these brand connections that they can relate to. Christie's also has some great research on international markets, which helps explain the Toronto real estate market. People love reading it.

Second, I have to give a shout-out to my colleagues in sales, marketing and management.  There is a huge depth of experience and knowledge to draw upon. 

Finally, the office environment and design reflect the professionalism that my clients expect.  Subdued and discrete.  It is important to have a great physical space that I can work well in and most importantly, which functions with a clear respect for my client's need for information and knowledge, discretion, confidentiality and professionalism. 

 

What Sets You Apart As A Realtor?

I hope my clients say that when I make a commitment to them, I deliver what I promise, and I set the bar very high for myself in terms of what I do to be professional.  I have empathy for their situation when they decide to buy or sell.

I have worked steadily since I was 16 and supported myself pretty much from the time I was about 18. I had lots of "growing up jobs"; as well as a career in the financial sector, then in fundraising, communications, and management before I started in real estate in 2010.  We had a public life through my husband's career, so I am no stranger to the feeling that one bad experience can be damaging to my reputation. I try to enjoy myself as well, and forge an honest and lasting relationship with my clients. I want to be there for them even after the ink has dried and the deal is concluded. I hope that other agents who have dealt with me have found me to be respectful, professional and fair. 

Something Surprising Or Unique About Yourself? 

Well, "unique" is a word I wouldn't use about myself. But, surprising? I am not prissy about rolling up my sleeves and getting hard physical work done. I have in-depth experience as general contractor doing extensive home renovations and that can be very useful to my clients. I can read construction drawings pretty well and I think spatially (I can also read pretty well upside down). I'm just as OK with power tools and a scrub brush, in a pinch, as I am in high-powered situations. 

 

Which Social Media Platform Are You Most Active On? 

Facebook because so many friends post there and it is fun to see what people are doing. I also have a professional network on Facebook, and I read a lot of news articles that are linked. But honestly, my goal is more "Facetime", less Facebook time.
