On Monday, June, 5th several Chestnut Park agents and staff started their day at the Covenant House, Toronto. We arrived first for a tour of the beautiful house, which is a safe house for homeless youth aged 16-25. It was an experience that note only gave us the opportunity to understand more about youth homelessness, but also gave each of the opportunity to increase its awareness to our network.
They provide a wide range of services to help homeless youth, including crisis care, support such as counselling, independence such as life skills training and they also provide after care too. Our volunteer task that day was to serve lunch to the youth living in the house.
Chestnut Park agent, James Strathy Warren organized the event so that we could have the opportunity to participate. He has been promoting Covenant House for several months to help bring more awareness to this cause. We are honoured to support such amazing organization here in Toronto, and are looking forward to doing many other charity and community events that help those in need.
